Why it exists
MyTrainingDesk started as one trail ultra runner's own desk: a way to see a whole season on one screen, from the first base weeks to race day, and to check every week whether the training was actually following the plan. Training tools showed the sessions and the charts, but answering simple questions still meant digging: was this week too easy, why did that long run feel so hard, should tomorrow's intervals wait a day?
So the app grew around those questions. An annual plan that sets each week's hours and intensity. A calendar where the morning's HRV, resting heart rate and sleep sit next to the day's sessions. And a coach that has read every session, every lap and every recovery reading, so you can ask it and get an answer about your training.
Who it's for
Runners of every level who train with a watch: someone preparing a first 10 km, a runner who wants to get faster, a marathoner, a trail runner, or anyone who simply wants to understand their running data. Cyclists and triathletes too. People who like to understand why a plan looks the way it does.
How it's built
- Your watch, through TrainingPeaks. Sessions come in from your watch and planned sessions go out to it through your own TrainingPeaks account. Your plan, your calendar and your coach live in MyTrainingDesk.
- The coach runs on Anthropic's Claude. It reads your data when you ask it something or when it writes your weekly review, and it only changes your plan when you ask it to.
- Hosted in the EU, on a server in Helsinki, Finland.
Principles
- Your training is yours. Each account sees only its own data. Nothing is sold, and there are no ads.
- Explain, don't just prescribe. Every number in the app can be traced back to your sessions, and the coach says why it suggests something.
- Fewer, better screens. The app keeps removing what doesn't help you decide what to do next.
Accounts and contact
Anyone can create an account: it opens at once, and the app is free during early access. Questions? Write to contact@mytrainingdesk.com. The privacy page says what the app keeps and where.
